Lightening the Burden is an illustrated poster series created for an initiative called Design To Protect Elephants. Their mission is to use the power of design as a way to raise awareness and funds to protect elephants and assist WildAid in their mission.

The concept behind the series was to show how cattle egrets and elephants, despite being from different species, can care for and protect each other. Suggesting that if they can do it, so can humans. Menacing vines were illustrated to represent the chains that keep elephants in captivity and to hint at the reality of elephant poaching. The cattle egrets depicted setting the elephants free are symbolic of purity and protection and are representative of those who help fight for the future of elephants.
